Difficult vocabulary was identified with the help of students—particularly children in Grades 2–5—and replaced, where possible, with simpler words that convey the same meaning. Words that could not be simplified are explained in the glossary, alongside important Arabic terms.

About the Translator

Dr. Mustafa Khattab, a Canadian-Egyptian scholar and Quran translator, is the translator of The Clear Quran. He memorized the Quran at a young age and received formal training in Quranic recitation and Islamic studies. He earned his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in Islamic Studies in English from Al-Azhar University’s Faculty of Languages and Translation. He has taught and lectured in Islamic studies and has served as an imam and Muslim chaplain in North America.

His work on The Clear Quran for Kids combines accessible language with careful attention to the meaning and message of the Quran.
